Advice for optimizing my workout program for tone and fitness?

Good evening all,

For the last month or so I have been working out, relatively three times a week at about an hour a trip or more. I usually do a couple of machines for everything, and run 1.5 miles. I have been using a whey protein mix, and its been working well for me. The only problem is I am getting bulk, but no real tone or definition. So, I decided to embark on my own 60 day program at the gym. I picked up some Pro Performance AMP Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 and Mega Men Extreme Athlete Vita pack after some research and price comparison. Great products to help me, but I realize I must also have an optimized diet and workout program in order to get anything out of these products. So this leads to my current plans and my question. My current workout plan is as follows:

Pre-Workout(Mornings, before workout) :

Basic warmups of simple exercises like push-ups, side hops, basically everything the Army has ever taught me for warming up.

Workout(Shooting for 1.5 hours a day/7 days a week):

Start with Cardio, a nice paced run for 1.5 miles to start and hoping to increase as the workout goes to 2.5 or possibly 3. Alternate between focusing on my legs one day(Overall legs) to the next day focusing on upper body, while spending each upper body day doing an extra set of reps on a specific muscle group(back, chest, shoulders, etc). My current plan is 15 reps x 3 with near max weight. I have been doing 25-35 reps and I was told by a friend that was too many reps at too much weight – I wasn’t going to get toned. Free weights mixed with with machines.

Afterworkout:

Whey shake followed by simple stretches.

Diet:
My main focus of my diet is lean meat. Usually eggs or oatmeal at breakfast with fruit, maybe oatmeal or lean meat sandwhich for lunch with a fruit snack, and maybe a small dinner of turkey or chicken.

Yes, I know it was a lot of information but I felt like in order to get good advice, I needed to provide details of what my current battle plan is. My question is, looking at my plans – what do I need to change in order to optimize my workout program?

What do I do when my cat has accidentally received more than 1 flea treatment within a 30 day period?

Five days ago, I gave my cat a liquid flea treatment (the kind administered to the back of the neck). Today, while someone was cat-sitting for me, they informed me that they had also given my cat a flea treatment of the same kind. What should I do for my cat? I can’t reach a vet as it is after hours and all offices are closed. I can’t bathe the cat as she is deathly afraid of water and will attack. What can I do?

Is it okay to lock a cat in a single room?

Our 12yr old female cat urinates all over the house. Usualy in the same few spots.
She hardly ever uses the litter box, and this has been going on for quite some time now.
The cat is an inside/outside cat
It is not a super friendly cat.
What do I need to provide for the cat in the room to make it feel comfortable?
Will it ever urinate in the litter box?

How can I help my new cat adjust to my other cats?

About a month ago I adopted a four year old cat from a co-worker who was moving and could not take him with her. He has gotten along with other cats in the past. I have three other cats ages four, two and one. I have been introducing them to each other slowly providing treats when I do. I have also brushed each of them with same brush to get each used to each others scent. My problem is that they still seem to not get a long. I do not feel that I can leave my new cat have the run of the house yet with my other two. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

What is the best cat litter for multiple cats?

I was using Tidy Cat multiple cats, but I noticed the last batch I bought (I go through about 80 pounds of litter a month) – they changed the formula. It’s more course and doesn’t control odor as well. Now (since the litter changed), one of my four cats is peeing outside the litter box. Any suggestions for a finer clumping litter that controls odor better?

What is the smartest cat breed and what do they look like?

I’m looking to get a cat. I don’t want a purebred because I cannot afford it but would like to rescue a cat from the local shelter. I cannot stand stupid cats and I want a good house cat who is independent but still loving … and definitely not stupid.
